Flamenco Express 'delivers the finest in flamenco' (Time Out), fully authentic and with world-class guests at each event - April sees the return of dancer Elena la Machana.

April's Flamenco Express at the Bussey Building / CLF Art Cafe features La Joaquina, Chris Clavo and Antonio el Pola plus the much requested return of Elena la Machana for an evening of passionate, live Flamenco music and dance.

Antonio el Pola:
Known for over twenty years as a formidably talented singer dedicated to the purest flamenco, Antonio El Pola has grown to fill the greatest stages of the world, performing with legends such as Paco de Lucia, Juan El Camas, Concha Vargas, Antonio Moya, Juan Castor, Juana Amaya, Javier Cruz, Joselito Fernandez, Soraya Clavijo, Miguel "El Funi", Manuel de Anustias, José de la Buena, Guillermo Mansano, Maria Pena, Jesus de la Frasquita, brothers Paco and Juan del Gastor, Luis Peña, and Javier Heredia to name but a few.

Elena la Machana:
Elena has worked in the top tablaos with many important Andalusian flamencos including guitarists and singers from Cristian Saucedo to Juan Carlos Maurel. 2012 Elena was resident at "Cuadro Flamenco" in Nizza, France with Sara Holgado and Cecilia Fernández, El Chani and Carlos "El Rubio" and participated in Theatre Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona.

Recently returned from The International Dance Festival Islamabad 2014.

La Joaquina (principal dancer):
Founder member, choreographer and director of Flamenco Express. She has worked with Christina Hoyos, Paco Peña and others in Madrid, Tokyo, New York, Montreal, Toronto, Paris and throughout Europe.

Recent Collaborations 'Spaces in Between' 2007 with Athina Valha and Candoco. Principle soloist 'Splinter In The Flesh' with the Hellenic National Dance Company at the Athens Megaron.

Chris Clavo (guitar):
A founder member and musical director of Flamenco Express, he began playing the guitar at fourteen and studied with flamenco maestros Carlos Heredia, Diego Amaya and Pepe Justicia. He has performed throughout Britain and Europe with Flamenco Express, with flamenco jazz virtuoso Eduardo Niebla and Iraqi pop sensation Jassim.
