It’s official. Jazz Jam at Barts is back.

This April, get ready to experience a fully-fledged flashback Friday. After the runaway success of last year’s Jazz Jam in May 2014, the beloved 1920s speakeasy style bar, Barts, will be hosting a month long revival of this unmissable musical series.

Starting on Friday 3 April, and continuing every Friday throughout the month, Barts will be hosting evenings of Live Jazz music from 7-9pm.

A little bit of jazz, scat singing and booze, brought to you by Uncle Barts and his bootlegging team is undoubtedly the perfect start to your spring schedule. Drop in for cocktails and jazz, for an excellent prelude to the weekend.

To kickstart the first of the April soirées will be the legendary London based Jazz pianist, composer and band leader, John Cervantes.

John Cervantes has led his groups at Vortex Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Charlie Wrights International, Manchester Jazz Festival, Derry Jazz Festival, N. Ireland, and Matt&Phreds Club, among many others. As a band member for other musicians he has performed at festivals and venues across Europe such as the London Jazz Festival; King's Place; 606 Club; Openair St. Gallen Festival in Switzerland; and SambaFest in Gdansk, Poland. Over the following weeks, the talented jazz acts will include, Aurelius Sciuka, a London based piano player who over the past few years has played at festivals in Sweden, Germany, UK, Ireland, Lithuania and Will Butterworth who grew up playing classical music on the cello and improvising on the piano. In 1999 he began to play jazz professionally in Scotland and in 2004 brought his talents to London.

Barts has become an iconic bar since opening six years ago. The first 1920s ‘speakeasy’ style bar in London, located along the famed Sloane Avenue is the creation of Duncan Stirling and Charlie Gilkes, the entrepreneurial pair that own the Inception Group. The Inception Group also comprises of the 80’s themed nightclub, Maggie’s, an ‘Englishman's Italian, Bar, Pizzeria and Karaoke,’ at Bunga Bunga in Battersea, Mr Fogg’s, a Mayfair based bar that is modeled on the actual home of Jules Verne’s most famous adventurer, Phileas Fogg. Cocobananas, a nightclub based on a Brazilian beach party, and Beaver Lodge, a cabin bar and dance saloon based on the winter cowboy log cabins found in Wyoming. In early March 2015, the pair added to their ever-expanding group, with the launch of a new 1940s themed late night bar, Cahoots, located in an abandoned underground tube station featuring dazzling cocktails, swing dancing and sing-a-longs around an old piano.
