The Agile Rabbit presents an idiosyncratic musical programme curated by Drummer & Producer Dave De Rose (Moloko, Mark Ronson, Mulatu Astatke) featuring a multifaceted array of London's finest sonic projects.

April 2015 programme :

Thursday 2nd

DAVE DE ROSE / JOHN EDWARDS / DAN NICHOLLS
This jaw dropping experimental trio feeds off the sound boundaries of Brixton Market, absorbing and digesting them with extreme sensitivity and flash-like back-thought. Bringing quiet solos to decadence, capitalising on the unpredictability of their seamless streams of sizzling grooves and textures, amid the euphoric explosion of tension-released, fighting, improvisational stews.

Thursday 9th

SIMO LAGNAWI & DAVE DE ROSE
Long time collaborators Simo Lagnawi and Dave De Rose (both part of Electric Jalaba & Gnawa Blues All Stars) bring renditions of traditional Moroccan spiritual music to the Market. Simo's unique Guembri style and unfathomable vocals perform songs from his vast Gnawa repertoire accompanied by the improvisational minimalist rumble of Dave De Rose's extremely individual percussive approach.

Thursday 16th

FLYING IBEX
Flying Ibex are songwriter Barnaby Keen, guitarist Nathaniel Keen, drummer Dave De Rose and bassist Colin Sommervell. Formed in 2011, the trio have varied musical pasts and presents including work with Moloko, Andreya Triana, Cypriot modern Rembetica Trio Tekke and musical journeys through Brazil. From their beginnings as the house band at a commune of artists in south London, improvising to silent films and theatre pieces, the band have progressed through a sea of influences. You can either deep-sea-dive into the songs or try and untangle yourself from the perfectly executed, uncivilized beats. Whatever you choose to do, the songs will stick in your mind and the band will serve you up an irresistable feast of wayward groove.

Thursday 23rd

GUFO
Gufo is the result of the free thinking sonic excursions of fellow musicians and friends Dave De Rose, Ruth Goller & Dario Rossettti-Bonell. The collaborative nature of the project and the musical trust shared between them has made for the creation of it's extremely original sound, a crossover of their self written, almost folk-like song-oriented materials, with the fascinating rhythms of their free form improvisations.

Thursday 30th

GYL & BASS
Gyl and Bass is a duet featuring Bex Burch and Oliver Keen born out of a mutual appreciation of West African repetitive, percussive music and with an aim to explore the possibilities of the two instruments when combined, fused with a splash of delay pedal and roland 707 drum machine. The two instruments with almost identical pitch ranges and two players with interchangeable roles, start to intertwine and feed off each other, leaving them at times indistinguishable.
This is the exclusive debut of this brand new project, and will feature the guest appearance of in-house Bedtime Stories percussionist and curator Dave De Rose.
