24 Pesos is one of the most exciting bands on the blues scene today. With catchy original songs that feature saw-tooth Dobro guitars, searing harmonicas, a funky old school rhythm section and a greasy Hammond B3, the band’s sound is eclectic and infectious. They burst onto the scene in 2008 and it is testament to their talent that they have already gained such popularity that they played over 150 shows throughout Europe and the UK last year, including the Colne Blues Festival, Bluesin@out Festival (France), Maryport Festival, The Jazz Café and Ronnie Scotts as well as live sessions for Jazz FM and the BBC. This gig will feature songs from the band’s latest release, “Do the Right Thing”, their third CD, and if the video of the new track “Won’t Lie Down” is anything to go by, these guys are playing with more energy than ever before and have never sounded better! The band’s great line-up features the intense guitar, vocals and harmonica of Julian Burdock, who has worked with Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, Beverly Knight and Jocelyn Brown as well as Silas Maitland (Imelda May, The Blues Brothers) on bass, Moz Gamble (Paul McCartney, Paloma Faith) on the Hammond organ and Bryan McLellan (a former Sony BMG/Capitol Records artist with alt rock band Vega4), on drums. Great, roaring, blues band this.
