Vocal group Cardinall's Musick will perform music from 15th/17th and 20th century composers including Allegri, Palestrina and John Tavener, in some of the best ensemble singing Britain can produce.

The Cardinall's Musick: Music for the Sistine Chapel. Andrew Carwood director (Director of Music, St Paul's Cathedral). Tonight's concert comprises music from the High Renaissance including Gregorio Allegri's celebrated Miserere Mei, and 15th/17th century composers Palestrina, Victoria, Josquin Desprez and John Tavener (1944-2013) and will showcase some of the best ensemble singing Britain can produce.

Founded in 1989, The Cardinall's Musick is an innovative ensemble known for its extensive study of English Renaissance music, although they now embrace a wide range of styles and periods. Add a sincere love of the music and a deep personal commitment in performance, and 'the voices of Andrew Carwood and his eight cohorts could probably start a blaze in the Antarctic!' (The Times). Their thoughtful, themed programmes are designed to stimulate and enlighten, to broaden horizons and bring a fresh approach to standard repertoire.

Much-acclaimed, Cardinall's Musick has performed at most prestigious UK festivals as well as the South Bank, the BBC Proms and throughout Europe and have won The Gramophone Award for Early Music four times.
'The Cardinall's could make music out of a John Prescott speech. Clear tones; perfect intonation; an ideal balance between individual colour and an ensemble blend' (The Times).

'One of the most thought provoking and entertaining programmes in the entire festival. This was a special evening featuring a special ensemble' (The Liverpool Daily Post).
