Seven months after their last London gig, Haiku Salut return with a new album and a set of stunning new songs. Entitled "Etch And Etch Deep", Haiku Salut's second album sees the band melt the folk, classical and electronic influences that illuminated their acclaimed debut to create a sound that's both inventive and inquisitive, at times more boldly pop, at others startlingly impressionistic. If that first record was an accomplished start, then this is the trio making good on that promise, blossoming into something very special indeed.

Support for this show comes from Bristol electronica collective Jilk, who collaborated with Haiku Salut earlier in the year to produce the single "Periscopes". The release was played on a host of 6 Music shows, from Gideon Coe and Steve Lamacq to Tom Ravenscroft and Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone, as well as appearing on Radio 3's Late Junction, Resonance and Amazing Radio. Gold Flake Paint called the song "a vibrant symphony" while Clash Music declared it was "just the medicine for anyone starting their Friday with gloomy clouds above their usually bright faces".

Thursday May 7th is, of course, election night. We'll be making the most of that dead time between the close of the ballots and the first results. Cast your vote, come see the bands, and then get home in time to see Peter Snow warm up his swingometer!
