Event Name: The London Hustings

Copy: The Evening Standard and Centre for London invite you to The London Hustings, chaired by BBC Newsnight's Kirsty Wark, on Wednesday 21st April.

Britain goes to the polls on May 7 in the most tightly fought and unpredictable general election in decades.

London is both an important electoral battleground and the engine of the UK economy. However, a growing population is putting increased pressure on an over-stretched infrastructure and public services, with problems such as housing now an urgent issue for Londoners.

Yet much of the rest of the country is hostile to London. Will our city get what it needs from the next government?

At The London Hustings, senior figures from the major political parties will make their pitch and debate these issues, answering concerned Londoners' questions.

Panellists:
Grant Shapps MP, Conservative Party Chairman
Chuka Umunna, Labour MP for Streatham and Shadow Business Secretary
Lynne Featherstone, Liberal-Democrat MP for Hornsey and Wood Green and Home Office Minister
Natalie Bennett, Leader of the Green Party
