BlueSketch Productions are thrilled to be producing 'By Virtue Fall', winner of the 2014 One Act Festival, at The Space Theatre.
Set in the outskirts of Glasgow, By Virtue Fall examines the tenuous moral dilemmas faced when Matthew, a devout Catholic, confesses his sexual attraction to children. Having just discovered his wife is pregnant, Matthew confides in his young, inexperienced Priest. Having committed no crime, Matthew is trapped by his faith and ultimately something has to give. This is not a religious play, nor a play about paedophilia, but leads us to re-evaluate our own moral compass directing to what is intrinsically right and wrong, as the characters deal with the fall out from Matthew's revelation.
"An exemplary piece of writing that examines the tenuous moral dilemma faced by a priest when one of his devout flock confesses to paedophile tendencies. In one short play Victoria Gimby unleashes a maelstrom of controversy, shored up by strong dramatic writing and exceptionally well-crafted characters. I sense that this is a play, raising as many questions as it answers and possessing a future life way beyond the One Act Festival."
