Are you selling or exhibiting your artwork? Have you thought about collaborating with other artists and galleries, or working on commission?

In this 2-hour workshop, Renée Pfister, a consultant, curator, registrar and business manager, will explain the key aspects of contracts and agreements that creatives should be aware of when setting up:

• Exhibitions
• Commissions
• Selling agreements

Renée will provide you with a pack of contract examples for each and explain their content. They will be simple, straightforward and in plain English.

This session is run by Renée Pfister – a consultant, curator, registrar and business manager with a longstanding career in the museums and art world. She was part of the curatorial team at the British Museum where she was involved in realizing major projects such as the Great Court and the Weston Gallery of Roman Britain. At the Tate Gallery she worked as a Registrar from 1999 to 2005, and was responsible for managing acquisitions and ground-breaking international programme exhibitions from the Tate’s Collection. She also participated in a Registrars’ exchange programme at the Museum of Modern Art, New York and wrote a chapter for the Routledge publication: ‘Understanding International Art Markets and Management’.

In 2006 she joined Gander & White, an international fine art transportation company, as Associate Director for Museums & Galleries, where she was the key person in business development and client management. She returned to the public sector in 2009 and was employed at the Science Museum as Collections’ Manager, in charge of approximately 200,000 objects and the Collections’ Management Team. In 2010 she became an exhibition advisor to the late Sir Anthony Caro and she opened her own Art & Gallery Consultancy in London. Since then she is advising private and corporate collectors, works with British and international artists and various museums worldwide. She also acts as Course Leader and Tutor at City University, Lancaster University and Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.
