Following its premiere at the Royal Court Theatre in 1988, Our Country's Good quickly became a 'modern classic' and, 25 years on, remains a powerful affirmation of the transforming power of theatre and art.

This afternoon explores the genesis of the play, its basis in historical fact and the themes celebrated in the play. Speakers include director Max Stafford-Clark (Out of Joint) who directed the original production and Dr Sophie Bush (Sheffield Hallam University), author of The Theatre of Timberlake Wertenbaker
