Join ShortList and Picador for an evening with the hottest author in LA at the moment Ryan Gattis. Ryan’s freshly released book has garnered praise from authors like David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas) and Dennis Lehane (Shutter Island). In his book All Involved, Ryan Gattis weaves a heart-stopping narrative from the perspectives of characters whose stories of the riots were never told. In six sections, each covering a single day, we follow the intersecting lives of seventeen people: gang members, fire fighters, nurses, law enforcement officers and graffiti artists, every one changed for ever.

Apart from writing Ryan is also Creative Director for urban art crew UGLAR, and will be joined by iconic LA graffiti artist Evan Skrederstu who’ll be painting a mural in the gallery exclusively for the event, you can see his previous work here.

The gallery will also be hosting an LA riots themed exhibition. The evening, which will take place on 22 May at 133-135 Bethnal Green Road (Shoreditch), represents the only London event the author will be doing to promote his ace new book, All Involved. He’ll give a reading from it, before sitting down for a live Q&A with author David Whitehouse which will be followed by questions from the audience.
