Food Revolution Day

Jamie Oliver's Fifteen apprentices are taking over the entire Market Hall at Borough Market on Friday 15th May between 10am-3pm, to mark Food Revolution Day.

The Class of 2015 apprentices will be running a series of 15 minute cookery skill demos in the demonstration kitchen, showcasing techniques they’ve learnt from the programme; including de-boning a chicken, filleting fish and creating sauces and condiments such as mayonnaise. With only 15 minutes allocated to each apprentice, there will be a fast paced variety of skills on show.

There will be opportunities for local school children to get involved in hands-on workshops creating flat bread pizzas cooked in a wood fired oven, which will be installed in the Market Hall.

A special smoothie bike will be installed in the Market Hall space, using surplus fruit and veg and pedal power to create delicious smoothies.

This year Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Day campaign is bigger than ever, with a global petition to get practical food education on the school curriculum. More information about this petition and the Jamie Oliver Foundation will be available at the pod in the Market Hall all day.
