Dumplins Ska Club - Camden

Summer has kicked in and after the last 5 months of packed events, we have another show not to be missed!

An exciting, edgy, energetic ska band playing a mixture of Classic Jamaican ska from the 60s and 70s (Toots & The Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Prince Buster, Dandy Livingston, Jimmy Cliff, Symarip) and 2tone from the 70s and 80s (The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat, Bad Manners) as well as catchy original tunes with a nutty boy flavor that are getting rave reviews from fans of second wave ska..

Ska brings people together, as we know- and in our case that happened in London, in summer 2012. Lead singer and guitarist Max, based in Hamburg, struggled a bit with the breakup of his current band... And came up with a crazy idea he's now stuck with: Putting a new band together in London.

Said and done. A few ads, a few emails, and one after another, THE CROONERS showed up. They came from everywhere, just like their singer, and different characters come with various musical influences: Ska is the common thread of course- but in their quirky sound there's also loads of Rock'n'Roll, Reggae, Pop and even movie soundtracks... Why would they content themselves with less...
After playing a number of gigs in and around London, The Crooners contributed a track to "Specialized 3", a Madness tribute album for children's cancer trust. Soon followed gigs in Hamburg and Berlin, and the video release of "Ten Days Off", first song of the album that is currently in the making.

And while we wait- always best to catch up live for one of their skanking, rocking and rolling live shows! Their music is influenced by The Toasters, The Busters, Skalariak, The Aggrolites, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Skatoons, k-mob, Lax Alex Contrax, No Life Lost, Rantanplan, Skaos, Surfits.
