Oakley opens a creative workshop space in London to celebrate the world of cycling.

“Oakley in Residence: London” Is A Hub For Cycling Culture

Running from the 18th May to late August, Oakley opens “Oakley in Residence: London” - a pop-up cycling destination and hangout for creative collaboration.

Part creative space, part workshop, Oakley in Residence: London offers a schedule of workshops, exclusive exhibitions, film screenings, athlete meet ups and cycling adventures.

Oakley in Residence: London is the physical manifestation of the company’s global ONE OBSESSION campaign that invites people around the world to join the #LiveYours movement, share their passion and inspire others. Oakley opened its first Oakley in Residence last month in Los Angeles celebrating skate culture.

Professional Cyclist, Mark Cavendish and Urban Cyclist, Chas Christiansen, both featured in Oakley’s ONE OBSESSION campaign, inspired the concept and programming of Oakley in Residence: London, bringing together a wealth of talent from the cycling industry for the local community to enjoy.

Experiences include rotating art exhibitions beginning with cycling illustration collective Spoke LDN, weekly city rides accommodating all skill levels with urban cycling crew East London Fixed, bike maintenance workshops ranging from basic tire changes to full refits with non-profit organisation The London Bike Kitchen, and film screenings in partnership with The Bicycle Film Festival.

Beginning May 18th, Spoke LDN will curate the first exclusive Oakley in Residence: London exhibition featuring cycling artwork from twelve top artists. Focusing on the various faces of cycling, the artists created unique pieces in their own distinctive fashion from hand-drawn illustrations to one-off letter-pressed creations. All pieces will be on display until the first week of June. Featured artists include Lisa Takahashi, Lino Cycles, PolSifter and Eliza Southwood.

Visitors can also sign up at Oakley.com/in-residence for the biweekly Friday Film Club presented by Oakley and the Bicycle Film Festival. Each session features specially curated films honouring the world of cycling and showing some of the most unique locations where riders live out their obsessions.

Oakley partnered with local sports organization, Lee Valley Youth Cycling Club, to offer special experiences for their East London-based youth members who have a passion for cycling, including private bike maintenance workshops run by London Bike Kitchen.

“Cycling has a wide range of diverse groups” said Tom Cartmale, Global Director Brand Communications.“Whether you’re a performance-focused racer, a city-messenger or a daily commuter, ‘Oakley in Residence:London’ is a place for anyone interested in the culture of cycling to come together and celebrate their shared passion - bringing the essence of Oakley’s ONE OBSESSION brand message to life.”
