From the ancient Lincolnshire fen lands comes the giddy scream of the wizened boggles; tearing through the night across the skyline of the capital and, finally, descending upon the ears of a modern audience.
Troupe, an emerging Theatre company, are bringing their new folk musical, The Dead Moon, to the Ugly Duck's creative space.
Originating from the Ancholme valley in North Lincolnshire, before the carr lands were drained and great swathes of the area were underwater for most of the year. Isolated from the rest of the community and rife with both malaria and opium poppies, these three unique stories are feverish, wild and surreal - presenting the beautiful hallucinations of a community’s collective imagination. With puppetry, dancing and original live music, this spell-binding folk musical will breathe new life into some little known tales and transport audiences to the long lost landscape of the Lincolnshire carrs.
