Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers

On Friday, 5th June, the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers arrive at the Southbank Centre after touring the UK throughout May. The audience can expect the Mugenkyo’s famous high-energy performance with thundering rhythms on huge taiko drums, mysterious masked choreography, muscular synchronisation timed to perfection, post-apocalyptic imagery and infectious belly laugh humour.

The concert is a spellbinding display of pure energy and sheer athleticism. This dynamic show offers an insight into a powerful art form, fusing primal energy, choreographed movement and infectious humour.

Mugenkyo have previously appeared on film and television, toured across continents, and collaborated with different musicians from countless genres.

Before the concert there will be a free drumming workshop, open to all. The workshop is suitable for adults of all ages & all levels of ability and fitness, whether you're an experienced drummer or have never held a pair of drumsticks before. You will be taken step by step through the basics, from the stance to the bachi drumstick grip, to fundamental rhythms, to using "ki energy" whilst playing.
