‘KIRTAN FOR CAUSES’ BENEFIT CONCERT
with leading Devotional Singer Manika Kaur

Featuring collaboration with renowned musicians Talvin Singh, Kirpal Singh Panesar, Jyotsna Srikanth and special guest Ishminder Kaur

A collection of serene devotional songs (Kirtan) which unfold in lush globally inspired arrangements

Manika Kaur will headline the ‘Kirtan for Causes Benefit Concert’ on Saturday 22 August 2015 at Union Chapel, London. Special guests include: Talvin Singh OBE, a pioneer in integrating tabla with club-friendly sounds, Kirpal Singh Panesar’s skilled performances using the Tar-Shehnai and the Dilruba, two traditional and unique Indian string instruments and Jyostna Srikanth’s sinuous violin all combine to give an inspiring musical performance.

All proceeds go towards educating impoverished children in Punjab through the 'Kirtan for Causes' Foundation.

Following the critically acclaimed release of Manika’s second album I Bow to You Waheguru (United Sound; 2015), the concert continues her spiritually rich musical journey. The album received praise for the striking, gentle arrangements incorporating a broad range of global sounds to support Kaur’s lilting, pure voice.

“When I discovered Kirtan as a girl, it was a different feeling from any other music I had known,” reflects Kaur. “Kirtan brings a sense of peace. You’re singing the most beautiful love letters to God. It’s so deep and beautiful.”
