A Summer outing for selected pieces from the Space’s One Festival, One Summer features solo performers, out in the open.

The third One Festival took place in January 2015 and featured 16 different solo performances. Two pieces have been chosen for One Summer:-

Tatyana and the Cable Man

Written by John Doble and performed by Emma Blackman

East meets West when a beautiful young Russian meets a Fox-news-loving cable man. Russian immigrant Tatyana’s smoke-break recital of her new date, the guy who came to install cable. She wanted to watch CNN. He thought she should watch Fox News. Moving forward from their polar-opposite opinions, they have a couple of dates.

The Fantastical Tale of the Boy on the Run

Written and performed by Tice Oakfield

With a miniature cardboard version of himself, the Boy tells his Fantastical Tale. When chasing a white fox in the middle of the night, he falls into the sewer and so the magic begins. As he travels from page to page he becomes the hero in an adventurous journey full of incredible landscapes and intriguing creatures. Until the boy in the book finds a boy in a book.

One Summer is directed by Sebastian Rex.

Applications for next year’s One Festival will open in the Autumn.
