The beauty of speed dating lies in its no-nonsense approach. You take an equal number of single girls and guys, put them in a room and give them a few minutes to chat with every other member of the opposite sex.

Then brush off your bookshelf, pull out that barely worn tome you bought thinking you'd absorb its contents through osmosis while it sat, never opened, between Zlatan Ibrahimovic's autobiography and Bridget Jones and get down to the wonderful Nordic Bar in Fitzrovia for a night of literary speed dating.

The method stays the same. Roughly four minutes to chat to each person before moving on to the next but this time let's talk books.
