Typhoon Dragon Boat Club - Summer Open Day

Typhoon Dragon Boat Club invites you to our Summer Open Day. Come and try dragon boat racing for FREE. It's a great way to meet new friends, get fit and have a crazy amount of fun!

Dragon boat racing is a fast and competitive team sport. A dragon boat crew consists of up to 20 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 helm and they sit in a colourful 40 foot long boat with a dragon's head and tail. Dragon boating is a sport for everyone - all ages, all sporting abilities and no experience is necessary!

Typhoon is one of the biggest dragon boat clubs in London. We are currently sitting third in the national league and have several members who will be representing Team GB in the World Dragon Boat Championships this year. We always welcome new members to help the club grow as a team.

At our Open Day you will have a chance to:-
- meet the Typhoon members
- learn the basic paddling technique
- take part in an exhilarating race in a dragon boat
- eat dim sum

Yes, if you love dimsum, you will also be able to enjoy a hearty lunch with Typhoon at the local Chinese restaurant, Yi Ban, after racing on the river.

Don't worry, we will provide the paddles, buoyancy aids and, of course, the dragon boats. You just bring yourselves, your friends, lots of enthusiasm and the following:-

What to wear/bring:
- wear comfortable gym clothes, you don't mind getting wet.
- bring a change of clothes (including underwear) in case you get splashed
- bring a towel, as the London Regatta Centre has hot shower facilities
- bring a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated
