We invite you to dip your toe in the water and sign up for a mindfulness taster. The taster is a brief introduction before you wade into a more intensive 6 to 8-week programme. A Mindfulness Taster Course is the best way of finding out for yourself about the potential benefits of mindfulness training. This session costs just £20 per person to attend and the group introduction has a maximum of 15 places so early booking is advised.

In the 2-hour session, we combine theory and practice so that you leave with both knowledge and experience of mindfulness. We will introduce you to the principal skills and techniques of mindfulness and you will learn about the scientific research that supports its effectiveness. You will also experience first hand a few practical mindfulness exercises and you will take home a brief one-minute meditation that you can start to put to practice in your everyday life straight away.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness meditation is a practice that shapes and tones the mind. It will help clear your awareness and open our heart to live life with more appreciation. Research shows that regular meditation improves physical and emotional health and wellbeing. The man most credited with bringing secular mindfulness to the west, Jon Kabat-Zinn, defines mindfulness as: “paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally, to the unfolding of experience moment to moment”. Why not give yourself the opportunity to experience some of these basic mindful skills?

• How mindfulness brings health to body and mind

• Formal mindfulness practice

• How mindfulness can be applied in everyday life

• Information on longer mindfulness courses.

You will leave the day with a mindfulness pack including a CD, handouts and a small treat to encourage you to practice mindfulness when you get home.
