Jan Hřebejk (INNOCENCE, DIVIDED WE FALL) directs this gripping drama about a rich society wedding thrown into chaos by the arrival of a stranger with a horrifying accusation to make; one which implicates the groom in a violent incident from the past. Beautifully acted by its expansive cast and shot with the elegance and clarity of a Robert Altman classic, the film recalls Dogma masterpiece FESTEN in its exploration of privilege, corruption and the horrible repercussions of suppressing ugly secrets from the past. At once acidly funny and painfully moving, HONEYMOON makes for compulsive viewing.
