Rhythm Junction London is a celebration of live vintage music and dance presented by Down for the Count Festivals. Following the success of the first event in 2014, the team are bringing Rhythm Junction to Central London on Saturday 5th September 2015. London’s hep cats are invited to come down for a jam-packed night of swinging rhythms, revelry and jazz spirit.

Reviving the glamour of the Swing Era, the event will feature two of the hottest swing and jive bands in the country – The Swing Commanders and Down for the Count.

The Swing Commanders are Europe’s leading West Coast Swing band - every member of the band sings and plays at least one instrument, sometimes three: yet what makes them stand out even above their incredible musical ability and performing skills is their joie-de-vivre.

The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra bring the sounds of the Swing Era back to life with a great set of authentic big band swing classics, and a performance that is full of energy from the first song to the last.

For the first time, Rhythm Junction London will include a jazz dance lesson from vintage dancer Nikki Santilli, who will teach jazz moves that everyone will love, whether an experienced dancer or a complete beginner.

Created by a team of musicians and dancers with a passion for all things swing, Rhythm Junction London offers everyone the chance to enjoy listening and dancing to two of the best bands on the vintage scene today.

Festival organiser Amelia Forster says “the idea for Rhythm Junction London came about when I started swing dancing and going to vintage events. I wanted to go to an event where I could get an authentic vintage dance hall experience and enjoy the unique energy created by live music.”

Co-organiser Mike Paul-Smith adds “our first event in 2014 was a huge success with hundreds of people enjoying a great mix of live bands and dancing – so we’re back in 2015 for another unforgettable swinging night.”

With DJ support from House of Amelia, sponsorship from legendary vintage fashion brand Vivien of Holloway and a licensed bar open all evening, Rhythm Junction London calls out for people to get dressed up, dance and have a ball.
