: LONDON foodie destination Borough Market has announced a brand new three day food and drink festival, Food Meets Beer, taking place from 24th to 26th July.

The event celebrates the city’s melting pot of global flavours and cuisines by matching dishes from 16 Borough Market traders to a variety of craft beers from 16 breweries around the world. For the first time, the festival brings together food and beer in unison, with each dish hand-selected to complement the flavour profile of the artisan beers. As well as live demonstrations from local brewers Tap East, cooking masterclasses will offer inspiration for delicious food pairings using seasonal ingredients and unique, speciality products available at the market.

Drawing on the growing trend for experimental beer cocktails, guests will be treated to tutorials by legendary Borough beer bar The Rake and cocktail experts Lost and Co. The tutorials will showcase how to make a range of exciting and unique concoctions, crafted using a combination of beer or real ale and fresh fruit and botanicals.

Other pairings include Er Boqueron beer, brewed with sea water from the Mediterranean, matched with almonds, olives and specially selected Serrano ham from Borough Market Spanish institution Brindisa. The local Bermondsey brewery Partizan is teaming up with Gujarati Rasoi, matching refreshing pale ales with rich and flavoursome Gujarati cuisine, whilst the fine cheeses and cured meats by traders Une Normande a Londres will be suited to Belgian Blondes from Brasserie d’Achouffe. Those with a sweet tooth will be tempted by irresistible desserts from Ion Patisserie twinned with eclectic brews by the beloved Wild Beer Co., demonstrating the unexpected delight of beer and dessert combinations.

Borough Market Managing Director Keith Davis said: “Borough Market has played an integral role in the development of the beer industry throughout its 1,000 year history. The revival of the market as a food haven, popularity of food from all corners of the globe and resurgence of craft beer - reflected in the more than 70 artisanal brewers currently operating in London – offered a unique opportunity to link food and beer in a new and interesting way. The event is a great opportunity for people to come together to enjoy great food, drink and entertainment.”
