12 kirigami models inspired by Star Wars cut from a single sheet of paper

Marc Hagan-Guirey, a.k.a. Paper Dandy, is a contemporary artist practising the highly specialised art of Kirigami. Armed only with a scalpel, he painstakingly transforms an ordinary sheet of single A4 paper into a breathtaking piece of three-dimensional architecture.

Following the success of his critically acclaimed first solo show; HORRORGAMI, Marc is pleased to return with his 2nd solo exhibition: Cut Scene. The exhibition consists of 12 original kirigami works, each one cut from a single sheet of paper inspired by Star Wars. Each construction represents an iconic scene taken from the original saga, with subjects including Boba Fett’s Slave 1, the Millennium Falcon and the Cantina Bar. Presented within light boxes, by night the silhouetted paper sculptures appear as atmospheric and enchanting as the action on screen. By day, the works exist in their pure white and tangible form – displaying an innocent and simple beauty and showing their physical construction.
Marc has been professionally practicing the art of kirigami since 2012. He has created work for clients such as Samsung Galaxy, Proctor & Gamble, Decorex International. Collectors of Marc’s work include TV Presenter - Jonathan Ross, acclaimed writer and producer - Byran Fuller, actor Reece Sheersmith and comedian Chris Addison.
Marc’s first book ‘Paper Dandy’s HORRORGAMI’, published by Laurence King is released on 7th Sept 2015.
