The amazing SHAZIA MIRZA + Guests: a hilarious comedy night in Bromley Churchill Studio.

Female comedian Shazia Mirza career really took off a few weeks after the September 11 attacks in 2001 when she opened a gig with the immortal line: "My name is Shazia Mirza. At least, that's what it says on my pilot's licence."

The reason this grabbed so much attention, and most importantly laughter, is that Shazia is one of a rare breed, a Muslim woman comedian, But while that oneliner and the reaction to it launched Shazia into the national and international media and the world stage, it is merely the opening line to a very funny woman’s comedy performance.Shazia Mirza is also a superb observational comic and her laconic style makes you think while laughing Shazia Mirza followed this up won the People’s Choice Best Comic Award at the London Comedy Festival 2002. Shazia Mirza has appeared, among others, on Have I got News For You, Joan Bakewell’s Taboo, Richard & Judy was the subject of a documentary on BBC 2’s First Sight, while inAmerica, Oprah’s Oxygen Media also filmed a profile on her.

Listed in The Observer in 2003 as one of the funniest comics in Britain. Shazia Mirza wowed the traditionally staid and difficult festival audience with her show A Portrait of Shazia Mirza at the Edinburgh Festival in 2008.
