With vocals reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Aretha Franklin, tonight Lorna performs 73 YEARS OF ARETHA FRANKLIN.
Lorna Marshall never fails to uplift an audience from intro to encore. Tonight she performs 73 YEARS OF ARETHA FRANKLIN, accompanied by pianist, music director and composer John G Smith.
Lorna has been hugely influenced by Aretha Franklin throughout her life, even winning her first ever record deal with Polydor after she was heard singing "Respect" at The London Palladium.
Lorna has sung duets with Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, the late Wendy Richards and in 2009 was invited to perform at Robin Gibbs (of The Bee Gees) home for a Garden Party, where she sung "Emotion" with Robin. She has sung at notable festivals and venues all over the UK and played Rafiki in the hit musical The Lion King.
Born in Tenesse, Aretha Franklin, "Queen of Soul," became the first female artist to be recognised in the Hall of Fame and won 18 Grammy Awards, making her the most honourable artist in Grammy history. Her life and music brought hope, joy and change during the civil rights movement in the early 60s and 70s and still her positive message is still felt all over the world today.
