The incredible Lucy Leave headline this quality evening upstairs at The Garage London, also with the stunning sounds of Big Zero, Balloon Ascents and Elizabeth Hunter

*Lucy Leave*
Having played together for many years under various guises, Jenny Oliver (bass, vocals), Mike Smith (guitar, vocals), and Pete Smith (drums, vocals) present their first project as a trio: Lucy Leave. After several months of improvising, writing, and rehearsing, they have emerged with a collection of noisy, psychedelic, punky pop songs.

They steal ideas from (in alphabetical order): The Beach Boys, Black Sabbath, Can, Courtney Barnett, Deerhoof, Iggy and the Stooges, Pulp, Sleater-Kinney, Soft Machine, Syd Barrett, Warpaint, and The Wedding Present. In January, they self-recorded a one-song demo which has been picked up to feature on a compilation of UK indie music for the Brazilian market: 'Songs For Brazil'.

At their debut gig in April, Lucy Leave launched their sounds towards an unsuspecting Oxford crowd who spoke of a ‘rawness’ of sound that was ‘crazy but musical’, and ‘almost bohemian in its punkness’.

*Balloon Ascents*
Balloon Ascents are a five piece alt-rock band from Oxford, with influences ranging from Neil Young and Tame Impala to Mogwai and The Beatles. They play slick melancholic indie-pop with crystalline harmonies nestled amongst math beats, psychedelic guitar grooves and rhythmical melodic bass lines. Playing together since the age of thirteen, they offer a unique glimpse into the musical melting pot of Oxford with Oxford heavyweights such as Stornoway and Radiohead taking an interest.

2014 saw Balloon Ascents band play over 50 shows including a ten-date European tour, have multiple BBC radio plays, interviews & live sessions, play various UK festivals and headline the Oxford City Fireworks display.

In January 2015 the band launched their long-awaited debut EP with a sold-out show at The Bullingdon in Oxford. Their EP includes live favourite 'Cutout' - the demo of which was included in Nightshift magazine's top 10 songs of the 2014.

Balloon Ascents were recently selected to play the BBC Introducing stage at Truck Festival, with BBC Introducing Oxford also choosing their track 'The Only One' as one of their top 10 tracks in the first half of 2015.

This October sees Balloon Ascents return to headline the Academy 2 for what promises to be a great show sprinkled with new tracks and packed full of old favourites.

*Big Zero*
Three piece new wave punk rock. Influenced by Devo, Elvis Costello and The Cars. To the rest of the world they are the punks, the weirdos, the outsiders, but together they are Big Zero.

*Elizabeth Hunter*
Elizabeth Hunter is a young recording artist based in NYC. Her sound runs between upbeat, Motown-esque anthems to more laid-back soulful ballads. Leading her ensemble
