We are delighted to welcome director Nicolas Winding Refn for a Q&A following this screening.
A controversial but superbly realised portrait of Charles Bronson, one of Britain’s most notorious criminals, Refn’s film confronts the extreme brutality that characterised Bronson’s life and peers into his desperate existence. Anchored by Tom Hardy’s fiercely committed performance, BRONSON examines the life of the man born Michael Peterson who would, driven by an ambition to simply achieve fame, go on to spend 34 years of his life in prison, 28 of those in solitary confinement. Distinguished by its use of music (the film opens to Scott Walker’s ‘The Electrician’) and its unrelenting violence, BRONSON also has its fair share of beautifully stylised and quite transcendental moments.
