PIANO NOBILE KINGS PLACE: 9th JULY – 9th OCTOBER 2015.

The Winner of the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize 2015 is Shanti Panchal, with his watercolour Artist and the Lost Studio. He receives the £10,000 Prize and his work will join the Ruth Borchard Next Generation Collection, alongside previous winners Celia Paul (2011) and Thomas Newbolt (2013).

The exhibition of 100 works by British and Irish artists returns to Kings Place for its third biennial edition, showcasing the very best of contemporary self-portraiture. Self-portraits by artists including Tony Bevan RA, John Keane, Ken Currie, Cherry Pickles, Michael Rooney RA, Tai-Shan Schierenberg and Renny Tait are featured in the exhibition. The Ruth Borchard Next Generation Collection has purchased eight works from the exhibition.

The Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize was launched in 2011 to continue and complement the original collection begun by Ruth Borchard in the 1950s; who built up an unparalleled collection of 100 self-portraits by twentieth-century British and Irish artists.

Highlights from the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize 2015 will travel to Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, the official museum partner for the 2015 Prize, from 31 October 2015.
