This recently updated and extended workshop focuses on classroom strategies to support adults with dyslexia and/or dyspraxia to learn.

Who would benefit from attending?
This training is for teachers or trainers who are responsible for delivering class\training room based learning to adults with dyslexia and/or dyspraxia.

Participants who have attended previous training events said:
• Everybody should be more aware of how to understand and support dyslexic students.
• This is especially useful for teachers/professionals who are in contact with learners with dyslexia.
• Lots of practical tips.
• Good balance of practical/strategies/policy.
• Will help with session planning.
• Ideas for enhancing teaching and work methods.
• Lots of ideas I can apply to our teaching and pass on to team.
• Will cascade to sessional tutors who work across the county.
• Good to add to my existing staff development resources to raise awareness.
• I will adapt my sessions/SOW/LPs etc to develop differentiation for dyslexic students.
• Packed with information, accessible, interactive.
• One of the more useful training sessions I have been to.
• So much to take back.

Training Aim:
The training will clarify what dyslexia and dyspraxia are, and provide a range of strategies for supporting learning in the class/training room.

Outcomes:
By the end of the session delegates will be able to:
• understand how dyslexia and dyspraxia fit in with broader policy on adult literacy/numeracy,
• understand what dyslexia and dyspraxia are,
• be able to implement practical classroom strategies to support with reading, writing and spelling,
• understand exam allowances,
• be able to signpost learners wishing to access screening and formal assessment for dyslexia and dyspraxia,
• have an understanding of how technology can be useful to support learners.
