‘Travels with my Paintbox’ showcases Nicky Philipps’s first solo exhibition of landscape paintings. The exhibition will reveal an entirely new genre of Nicky’s work, bringing together, for the first time, over 20 paintings and sketches that illustrate her travels across the world.

Nicky is well-known for her portraiture but over the past five years has set herself the additional challenge of landscape painting. Inspired by Nicky’s recent travels to all corners of the globe, from Thailand and Jaipur to Patagonia, this exhibition will illustrate her impressive handling of colour, light and different climates. These features are prominent in the paintings of J.M.W. Turner, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Edward Seago, who continue to inspire her work. Closely connected to the intriguing issues of style and technique, Nicky’s vibrant landscapes will highlight her experiments with palette and atmosphere.

Nicky is renowned for her portraits of HM Queen Elizabeth II, which is now on permanent display in the throne room at Buckingham Palace, TRHs Princes William and Harry and Falklands hero Simon Weston OBE, which are part of the permanent collection in the National Portrait Gallery, London.

Nicky Philipps: ‘I enjoy the tranquillity of painting a landscape. It is a different type of challenge which allows one to experiment more than commissioned work.’
