Get ready for a historic sound system experience... when guest selector Newton Ace joins the night's regular host, DJ David Katz, for a night of ska, rock steady and reggae, original vinyl style.

Newton is a London legend. He ran the first ever nightclub in the borough of Hackney, which he opened in 1966, and kept it going for over 35 years. Described by Don Letts as “the heaviest reggae club in England,” the Four Aces club saw the likes of Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff, Alton Ellis, Owen Grey, the Pioneers, Dennis Alcapone, Delroy Wilson, Pat Kelly, Cornell Campbell, the Heptones, Dennis Brown, Tapper Zukie and thousands of other ska, reggae, dub, lover’s rock and dancehall stars rattled the floors of 12 Dalston Lane, along with soul stalwarts such as Ben E. King and the Spinners. Every sound system of note in London played there too, including such legendary sets as Duke Vin, Neville the Enchanter, Sir Coxsone Outernational, Fatman, Jah Shaka, Lord Koos, Sufferer's Hi-Fi, Metro Downbeat, and many more. Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Johnny Rotten, and Chrissie Hynde are just a few of the noteworthy folk that formed regular presences there.

Newton has made a name for himself spinning the records he picked up over the years, many of them by artists he himself booked to play at the Four Aces. His most recent residency came at Charlie Wright's in Hoxton, and as Newton says, the Four Aces lives on anywhere he plays.
