Learn all you need to know about designing and creating handcrafted leather accessories all in a 2 day leathercraft workshop.

You will learn how to cut patterns, level, edge dye and treat, hand stitch, skive and rivet leather. All hand tooling processes will be covered.

The Course Leader:

MELISSA TOFTON
Melissa studied fashion design in London before specialising in Leathercraft. Melissa specialises in hand tooling, weaving, braiding and moulding Leather Couture pieces for fashion, film and costume design along with her on ready to wear contemporary fashion brand.


WEEKEND WORKSHOP OUTLINE:

DAY 1: SATURDAY
12-5pm
introduction to designer & examples of their work, along with a brief introduction to leather & talking you through your leathercraft tookit; what each tool is used for, and how these tools can be utilised best for your leathercraft designs.
Melissa will help you design your own unique leather accessories to construct from scratch; help you to understand different kinds of leather & different finishings & processes involved.
Make a basic leather cuff/choker to take home with you.

DAY 2: SUNDAY
12-5pm
Help to finish constructing the leather accessories from day one,
along with fun, brief tutorials through the day on stitching, hand braiding and moulding to give you further inspiration when you leave the workshop.
Design and make your own small leather accessory using the skills you have learnt from day one.

No leathercraft skill will go untold :) you will leave with a vast knowledge of lots of different ways to manipulate leather for any of your own future designs.

NB: included in the price of the course will be your own full leathercraft toolkit, with everything you need to go on to create your own bespoke leather accessories. Toolkit is worth well over £60/ so this is a great saving to be had.

Light refreshments, tea & coffee, will be provided throughout the weekend.
