The first solo exhibition by prize-winning painter Benjamin Hope.: Titled Observations will take place in November in the newly launched JP Art Gallery in London’s Battersea.
Benjamin Hope’s works range from still-life, to Impressionism and portraiture, however he transcends typical paintings within these genres, as he encapsulates ordinary spots in London and every day objects and elevates them into intriguing scenes and beautiful images of things we might not normally take notice of. Coming from a mathematical and scientific background, Benjamin’s paintings are very detailed and accurate in proportion, form, shape and colour.
His talent has not gone unnoticed, he was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2013 with his painting Teacups in the Financial Times and was subsequently selected for the annual open shows of The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Pastel Society, The Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the New English Art Club.
His backstory is interesting and quite unique, as he took up a career in banking to finance his painting, until he was able to devote himself to it full-time. Aside from his awards, this, his first solo exhibition should prove testimony to this being the right decision.
