Roy Lichtenstein symbolizes the most important aspects of late 20th Century art. He merged the every day with fine art in a style that would be come known as POP ART and of course he, along with Warhol, embraced serial imagery confirming printmaking as
important part of an artist’s repertoire.
Working initially with comic strip imagery of War and Romance, he later explored the impact of his methodology on the work of other artists (such as Picasso and Monet) and art movements (Art Deco and Abstract Expressionism). Throughout his life, his unique vision sustains the importance and validity of his work.
