Stand Up For The Comedy School 2015

Knife crime has again been hitting the headlines with horrifying regularity with 10 teenagers having lost their lives already this year.

Teenage deaths from knife crime have been climbing consistently for the last three years so on Sunday 11th October top comedians are uniting to help stamp it out. Sir Lenny Henry, Sean Lock, Paul Whitehouse, Harry Enfield, Andi Osho, Simon Evans, Curtis Walker and Francesca Martinez are amongst those supporting The Comedy School Charitable Trust’s Annual Benefit at Hammersmith Eventim Apollo. The event is being produced by Paulette Randall MBE to raise funding for vital social programmes using the power of comedy to educate, rehabilitate and inspire in a wide variety of settings.

Founded in 1998, The Comedy School is a unique organization, offering a chance to explore all aspects of the performing arts industry and comedy art-forms, using the often underestimated power of comedy to run training and education projects in secure mental health units, schools, prisons and elsewhere, addressing social issues, offering opportunities for personal development, guiding young people excluded from the educational system, nurturing the talents of comedy enthusiasts and aspiring professionals. We strive to stimulate personal creativity and develop social skills, and have positively touched the lives of many people over the last 17 years. The organisation works closely with schoolchildren, prisoners and young offenders with the support of the police, charities and famous comedians to educate about current social issues such as anti-social behaviour and weapons-related crime.
