We Are the Rubbish from Eastern Europe, Theatre Replika

Peripheral Visions is a multidisciplinary arts festival organised by GRAD that brings together three documentary theatre productions on the themes of migration and social inequality in Bulgaria, Russia, and the UK.

Theatre Replika, Bulgaria’s leading documentary theatre company, presents We Are the Rubbish From Eastern Europe, in which actors share true stories from Bulgarians living on the streets in Sofia as well as those who chose to move abroad. Through the rubric of rubbish, both literal and figurative, Theatre Replika’s remarkable work interrogates the lasting legacy of Socialism in a contemporary Bulgarian context.
