Late at Tate will return to Tate Britain this season with a new series of free events curated by young people. The gallery will open its doors after-hours on the first Friday of October, November and December for visitors to enjoy music, live performances and workshops. This season is inspired by the theme of ‘Status’, and each event will explore a different idea: Power (October), The Body (November), Celebrity (December). The series will explore representations of status and its parallels with the Tate Collection, from historic royalty to YouTube fame.

Late at Tate is a completely peer-led programme, with the content for each event curated exclusively by 15-25 year olds from Tate Collective London. Tate Collective London host a range of free events and festivals for young people to experiment, create and innovate through art and ideas.

Late at Tate: Power will kick off the series on 2 October. The event will include a performance by London based duo Native Sun, who fuse hip-hop with conscious bilingual lyrics and The Age of L.U.N.A. a teenage four-piece from North London with a fresh take on 90s hip-hop supported by DJ’s from Reprezent Radio, a digital commission from innovative interactive media artists Jae Huh and a workshop from East London creative Kojey Radical’s project Push Crayons. There will also be a discussion exploring gender, representation and identity with all female London based punk band Skinny Girl Diet. Later in the series, highlights will include a digital commission from feminist photographer Maisie Cousins, a digital workshop with 9 Squares and spoken word artist Jemima Foxtrot.

Late at Tate is part of the Circuit programme, led by Tate and funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Circuit is a national programme that engages young people in the arts with a focus on encouraging those with least access to galleries and museums.

Late at Tate is a free, drop-in event. Spaces are available on a first come, first served basis.
