We are very pleased to welcome to the Club New York-based guitarist Jack Wilkins, who has been demonstrating his flawless technique and imaginative approach since he burst on to the international jazz scene in the early 1970's with the album “Windows”, critically acclaimed as a dazzling, seminal guitar trio work. Since then his great ear and impeccable sense of time have led to musical collaborations with a veritable who’s who of jazz greats, including Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, and Buddy Rich. His recorded output on 10 CD’s under his own name is equally impressive, featuring the likes of the Brecker Brothers, Jack De Johnette, Al Foster, Phil Woods and Kenny Burrell. A consummate accompanist, the list of musicians that he has worked with ably demonstrates the admiration and respect with which his talent is held within the international musical community, including iconic performers Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughan, Sammy Davis Jr, Tony Bennett and Cassandra Wilson. Jack was featured on the first live internet jazz concert and was awarded an NEA grant in recognition of his work and contribution to the guitar. He now divides his time between teaching at The New School, Manhattan School of Music and performing around NYC while still releasing new material.
