Performance Storytelling with Clare Muireann Murphy, Xanthe Gresham and TUUP

Inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead, three fabulous storytellers dig deep into their potent repertoires to dance hand-in-hand with that dynamic trio of God, the Devil and Death.
Like some exuberant autumn ritual, the Crick Crack Club’s bizarre and quirky annual celebration of the Mexican festival of the Dias de Los Muertos, has become part of the fabric of East London's cultural craziness! Tonight - under the watchful eye of a bunch of gambling skeletons - dead ancestors are honoured; the souls of the dead are tempted back into the world of the living for a bit of a party, and Death is mocked, cheated and saluted by turn.
Expect ritual, libations, stories, and magical mayhem...
‘The UK's most vivid and exciting Storytelling organisation' – Ian Macmillan, The Times
'Nicely bonkers' Hugh Lupton

CLARE MUIREANN MURPHY can’t help but make friends with her audiences…it’s just the way she is. Born in Dublin, Clare has lived in Spain, America and Galway, and currently resides in London. A dynamic and witty performer, she has performed in festivals and theatres across the world, and her repertoire extends from her beloved Irish mythology to world folklore, anecdotes, fables, personal and original stories.

XANTHE GRESHAM
Xanthe Gresham is a storyteller with a distinctive, physical, performance style, who delights in the magical, the absurd and preposterous. She started life as a teacher in Kentish town, until storyteller Ben Haggarty was invited into the school to perform…and she was smitten by an artform. Alongside performances in theatres and art centres, Xanthe has worked extensively for the British Museum, works as a storyteller for Holland Park and The Chelsea Physic Garden, and lectures on Storytelling Drama at the University of East London. She has performed in Festivals, schools and libraries in the UK, Ireland, France, Slovenia, Holland, Switzerland and New Zealand.

TUUP: Born to Guyanese parents and raised in Acton, West London, Godfrey Duncan - TUUP (The Unorthodox, Unprecedented Preacher) performs with unbounded charisma and alarming spontaneity. His style is one of total improvisation, and his fabulous capacity for mimicry and ear for a wild story is outstanding. TUUP has travelled the world extensively, telling stories all over Europe and in both Northern and Southern Africa. In his role as a creative lyricist and vocalist with the highly influential dance music collective, Transglobal Underground, he has performed throughout Europe, Central Asia, Asia and North and South America.
