This study day is organised by the Goldsmiths’ Centre and Crafts Council, and will expand on themes drawn from two major exhibitions celebrating jewellery-making: A Sense of Jewellery at Goldsmiths’ Centre, curated by Amanda Game and Professor Dorothy Hogg MBE, which highlights the design thinking and material innovation emerging from independent studios.
The Crafts Council’s I AM HERE, portable art, wearable objects, jewellery from 1970s, which celebrates collections and how public and commercial galleries support and enable innovation, experimentation in practice. The show looks at the history and development of important recent collections of jewellery, including its own. With contributions from makers, and curators, and featuring keynote presentations including Dutch art historian and publicist Marjan Unger.
