A splendid way to round off the week's gigs at the Elgin, saxophonist Richard Shepherd presents his band 'Beyond the Cool' - a fresh new revival of the 'Chamber Jazz' nonet sound, kicking off with a very rare performance of the complete Miles Davis Birth of the Cool originals (including some that weren't included in the original album), and complementing them with a great array of material from like-minded composer/arrangers including JJ Johnson, Marty Paich and Clifford Brown, all adapted to feature the great brass-centric 'Birth of the Cool' instrumentation!

BopFest! is a new jazz festival running from November 17th to 22nd 2015 during the EFG London Jazz Festival, featuring a week of the best of British bebop and straight ahead jazz, hosted in the beautiful Victorian wood-panelled music room at The Elgin in Ladbroke Grove, central London. The venue features a Yamaha grand piano and sound system, with cabaret style seating in front of the stage, with a capacity for 80 people. Food - The Elgin has an excellent kitchen - and drinks are available during the music.
