Renowned cellist Maya Beiser performs two concerts as part of Sound Unbound: The Barbican Classical Weekender. The second round in The Pit at the Barbican is called “Maya Beiser: Cello 360º” and will feature an unplugged program featuring the London premiere Philip Glass’ Orbit; the European premiere of Anna Clyne’s Rest These Hands revised for solo cello; Maya’s arrangement of Sir John Tavener’s Lament to Phaedra for solo; and her stunning interpretation of David Lang’s take on Lou Reed’s Heroin, composed for Bang on a Can.
