The Leontia Gallery presents ‘THERE AND NOW’
New exhibition exploring the present and the past in paintings, neon, drawing, sculptures and prints from the world’s most pioneering artists


From the 29th October through to the 10th November visitors will be the first to see original works from world famous Nina Fowler and Butch Anthony. All their new works will be showcased at Blackall Studios, 73 Leonard Street, Hoxton.

Each artist has been selected as they bring something distinctive to the “There and Now” exhibition with varying techniques and concepts.

The highly anticipated exhibition will feature original works from Nina Fowler, a favourite amongst art collectors. Nina has received prestigious nominations for the Young Masters award and The Aesthetica Art Prize.

Fans of Fowler’s work include actor Jude Law and musician Sharleen Spitarri. Her work is now collected and exhibited internationally and has shown at the Lazarides gallery in London and Newcastle, and the Cynthia Corbett Gallery, London.

Additional exhibition highlights include:

o Internationally acclaimed Alabama-based artist Butch Anthony who collects bizarre objects, transforming them into exquisitely beautiful art. Living an almost hermetic life in his 80-acre folk art compound in Alabama, he is the founder of his own museum of curiosities “The Museum of Wonder”. Described by the NY Times as a” Ramshackle Genius.”

o Hotly tipped as the UK’s next big artist, Lauren Baker beautiful creations, exploring themes of mortality and time itself continues to enthuse the art world. Lauren’s work has been shown at the V&A and The Tate Modern in London.

o London based artist Rosie Emerson works almost exclusively on representing the female form. Figures draw reference from archetype’s old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model.


o 2014 winner of The CASS ART Jean-Luc Almond creates thought provoking paintings inspired by historical figures in his inimitable painterly style.

o Emerging artist Jesus Leguizamo is from Colombia and his evocative paintings have won him prestigious awards throughout South America. Painting portraits, the artist creates then destroys his subject through the material.

o London emerging artist Sara Ley Roy’s work focuses on storytelling fairy tales and folklore. Le Roy questions the nature of storytelling and how we are shaped by both traditional folklore and modern day cultural values.
