The Universal Zulu Nation (UZN) is an international world Hip Hop movement founded by Afrika Bambaataa.

UZN are a group of artists, performers and community activists who have created and used Hip Hop culture for over 40 years as a vehicle for positive change and contributed to transform it into a global phenomenon. Using the motto Peace, Unity, Love and Having Fun, the Universal Zulu Nation continues to impact positively on communities and especially youth and street culture.

Bringing the 5 elements of hip hop together - Deejaying, Bboying, Rapping, Graffiti & Knowledge - UZN will host a community day as well as an art show of memorabilia and artefacts from the history of their movement. The exhibition will include prints and original pieces from the likes of Dan Lish, Kings Davis and Bunny Bread and Keith Hopewell Aka PART2ISM plus a UZN video reel screened in the cinema. The community day will take place on Saturday 7th November with activations across both cinema, music & artist labs. Activities include Jembe's Bongo drum demonstrations, an open discussion about the early years of UK Hip Hop with Bunny Bread & Jonzi D and a live art demonstration by Barney Trattles aka Chum 101. The cinema room will screen a selection of films and talks including NG83 - When We Were B-Boys by Claude Knight & B-Boy Mercenaries by Charlie Marbles. Discussion’s include Meeting of the Minds with a panel of key figures from Hip Hop & Deep Frozen in post modernity, a lecture and images by Keith Hopewell AKA Part 2.

Workshops will take place throughout the day in the House of Vans artist labs including beat making & dub cutting workshops, amongst others. Live music will also be the order of the day with live band and dance workshops. In addition an exclusive screening of hip hop fashion documentary Fresh Dressed will take place on 14th November in the Cinema as part of DogWoof x House of Vans Film Series. The film will be complimented by a Q&A.
