Gershwin was one of the most prolific songwriters of the 20th Century, and he was also a brilliant pianist with a unique sense of rhythm and melody. His music crafted the 20th century and with over 500 songs, an opera, a piano concerto and of course "Rhapsody in Blue' his wealth of compositions have plenty of instantly recognisable tunes. James Pearson, pianist extraordinaire, will look at what makes these tunes so popular for jazz instrumentalists and will perform tunes like 'A Foggy Day', 'I've Got Rhythm', 'Embraceble You' and 'Someone to Watch Over Me'. He will also play some of Gershwin's original piano music and some of his rarely heard song transcriptions.
