Alexander Armstrong, the actor, comedian and Have I Got News for You’s most frequent guest presenter, is to sing songs from his debut album, A Year of Songs, at the London Palladium on 22nd January.

A classical baritone who won successive choral scholarships including to Trinity College, Cambridge, Armstrong has been singing since joining his school choir in his native Northumberland forty years ago. Now, his first concert tour will begin at the Liverpool Philharmonic on 17th January, taking in venues across the country before ending at the Manchester Opera House on 21st February. Featuring many of Armstrong’s favourite songs such as Summertime, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square and Londonderry Air, A Year of Songs is released on 6th November through East West/Warner Music and is produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Simon Franglen (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bee Gees).

Armstrong said: "To describe myself as excited about this tour would be an almost criminal understatement - it is the realisation of a dream. I've spent nearly a lifetime singing and, after such a wonderfully diverse career in acting and comedy, I feel doubly blessed to be able to get out and sing to a wider audience. To perform on these hallowed stages, in front of live audiences, is what it is all about.”
