Fashion historian Amber Butchart discusses our favourite objects of desire – From folklore and fairy tale to the catwalks of Paris, this talk shows the importance of high heels throughout history. From wealth and status to gender, heels highlight how many of our cultural concerns are played out on our feet.

The current V&A exhibition shows extremes of footwear from around the globe, presenting around 200 pairs of shoes ranging from a sandal decorated in pure gold leaf originating from ancient Egypt to the most elaborate designs by contemporary makers. Morning event, with coffee and pastries.
