JJ is a black lesbian 'stud' working as a wedding photographer with white gay best friend, Seb. When JJ falls in love with the beautiful and mysterious Elle, JJ and Seb's friendship is tested for the first time as JJ has to choose between her hot new lover and her friend.

Meanwhile, Seb rejects the advances of local drug dealer Smack Jack because he's too busy lusting over 'straightacting' Manchester Joe from Gaydar. Stud Life depicts a slice of life inside an urban London LGBT scene rarely shown, where gender is up for grabs but desire follows strict rules. Directed by boundary-pushing filmmaker and campaigner for better representation of queer people of colour, Campbell X.

There will be a Q&A after the screening with director Campbell X.

Screening with short films Janine, Fingers, and Goodnight My Love. Janine - the first film of legendary filmmaker Cheryl Dunye - is about a black lesbian woman's relationship with a white, upper middle class girl when they were both in high school. Fingers by Sandra Alland features a British Sign Language (BSL) poetry performance by Alison Smith about love, longing, and the sexiness of touch. In Goodnight My Love, directed by Kellee Terrell, two lovers are caught in a zombie apocalypse and the terror of impending doom brings out tensions between them as they take aim at each other's faults.

Rated 18.

Films screening with English subtitles for accessibility. The Bernie Grant Arts Centre is a wheelchair accessible venue with level access throughout and an accessible toilet. To book a place for a wheelchair, please contact the venue on 020 8365 5450.
